37. Russian old postbox

Russian old postbox
Почта России

A card with a postbox from the Republic of Bashkortostan came to my own postbox. It is an old Russian box and the photo was taken by Denis Demkov. If you are interested in it, it is sold online at PostcardID.ru. The back side of the card is printed too: it has a coloured politic world map. Spain is cream coloured and Russia peach. Matvei is a 5 years old boy who sent this card with the help of his mom, but he didn't forget to sign the card! So sweet.

Russian stamps
Moscow Kremlin (left) and Children's books (right)

Two lovely stamps and a peek on the world map. On the left, the Moscow Kremlin, UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most famous of Russian Kremlins. On the right, the 2010 stamp for Europa series themed Children's books. Very happy to get both of them!

Postcard from: Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia.
Received: April 2012.
Language: English.
Envelope: no.
Stamps: one 10 R from Kremlin series (Moscow's) and one 10.50 R Europa from 2010, Children's books.

Thank you, Matvei & Mom!

  1. Oh, I love it. Sadly I don't read Russian so I can't work out how to buy it on the site but I have asked Matvei if he has another one.

  2. I love postboxes, too. I have a few I need to share if I can get around to scanning them. I think the youngest postcrosser I've received a card from is about 8 (a Ukrainian girl living in the UK who wrote out the card hersef) and I sent a card to a Dutch boy who is only three. It's cool to think of people of all ages doing this!

    1. The youngest postcrosser I have met was a 2 years old Dutch girl to whom I sent the decorated envelope. Since then, I think I have sent and received several cards to/from children. I wonder who enjoys most this project: the kids or their mothers?
But my weirdest recipient was a cat called Anubis. I had a lot of fun preparing that card!
