As I said before, these stamps mean a lot to me as some members of my family were affected by May 11th 2011 earthquake. They live just a few km away from Lorca but some of them work in the city. Thankfully they didn't get hit by the falling walls and roofs but the earthquake affected their jobs and properties.

Miraculously as well, this TV reporter who was filming the damages done by the foreshock went unharmed when the main shock ocurred. I remember watching it live and being appalled.

  1. Its wonderful when old building survive an earthquake, and of course people. The reporter was lucky, and brave to keep on reporting.

    1. One of the churches was almost destroyed, only the front stands while the roof collapsed -- thankfully none of the children waiting for their catechism classes was inside at the moment! I am glad they issued these stamps to help.

  2. Ohh I remember that earthquake on the news. I grew up in an area where we have a lot of small earthquakes, usually you can barely feel them. But there were some scary ones, but they are rare.
It's a nice idea to bring out some stamps to remember.

  5. Those of us who have never experienced anything like this probably can't really appreciate what it's like. The video gave just an idea. I'm so glad they issued these stamps because most of us just remember the Japanese earthquake.

    1. It was a funny coincidence with Tohoku earthquake: March 11th / May 11th. This one wasn't as huge and deadly but did a lot of damage too.
